Join our client’s team as a Health & Safety Business Partner, working with a leading London housing provider to oversee and enhance safety practices within their repairs and construction work. This is an exciting opportunity to utilise your expertise in health and safety regulations, risk management, and partnership building to make a significant impact on the well-being of the organisations employees and residents.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Act as the primary point of contact for health and safety matters within the repairs and construction departments of the housing provider.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive health and safety management systems, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and best practices.
  • Conduct regular inspections, audits, and risk assessments of repair and construction sites to identify hazards, assess risks, and recommend appropriate control measures.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to colleagues, contractors, and stakeholders on health and safety matters, promoting a culture of safety and risk awareness.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, contractors, and external agencies to ensure that health and safety requirements are effectively communicated and adhered to throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Deliver health and safety training programs and workshops to enhance the knowledge and awareness of employees and contractors.
  • Monitor and analyse health and safety performance indicators, prepare reports, and provide recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Keep up-to-date with changes in health and safety legislation, industry standards, and best practices, ensuring their integration into the organisation's policies and procedures.

 

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Health & Safety professional, ideally within the housing or construction sector, with a focus on repairs and construction projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of health and safety legislation, regulations, and best practices, including CDM regulations and risk assessment methodologies.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, processes, and associated hazards.
  • Professional certifications in health and safety (NEBOSH, IOSH, etc.) are highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with stakeholders at all levels, promoting a positive health and safety culture.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct effective risk assessments, inspections, and incident investigations.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify practical solutions to complex health and safety challenges.
  • Proficient in using digital tools and software for documenting and reporting health and safety data.
  • A collaborative mindset, with the ability to build effective partnerships and influence others to drive positive change.
  • A commitment to continuous learning and professional development in the field of health and safety.
