Position Overview:

As the Head of Mechanical & Electrical (M&E), you will play a pivotal role in leading the M&E department and ensuring the effective delivery of engineering services across the housing portfolio. You will provide strategic direction, oversee project management, and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards. Your expertise will contribute to the enhancement and maintenance of housing assets, optimising efficiency and ensuring a safe and comfortable living environment for residents.

Responsibilities:

• Provide strategic leadership and direction to the M&E department, ensuring alignment with organisational goals and objectives.
• Oversee the planning, design, and implementation of M&E engineering projects in relation to gas, electrical, asbestos and water management.
• Develop and manage the M&E budget, ensuring cost-effective solutions while maintaining quality standards.
• Lead a team of M&E professionals, providing guidance, mentoring, and fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, codes, and standards in Housing M&E practices, including health and safety regulations.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify and prioritise maintenance and upgrade projects, ensuring the efficient operation of housing assets.
• Conduct regular inspections and audits to assess the condition of M&E systems, identify areas for improvement, and implement preventive maintenance strategies.
• Stay updated with industry trends and advancements in M&E and provide recommendations for the adoption of innovative technologies and practices.
• Establish and maintain strong relationships with contractors, suppliers, and external consultants, ensuring effective collaboration and delivery of services.

Qualifications:

• Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Services or equivalent experience.
• Professional certification or membership in relevant engineering bodies.
• Extensive experience in M&E engineering, including electrical systems, gas, asbestos and water, preferably within the housing sector.
• Proven leadership experience, including managing a team of engineering professionals.
• Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
