Braxfield Recruitment is working exclusively with a leading housing association in London, to appoint a Fire Safety Surveyor to their Asset and Sustainability team. This is a key role overseeing fire risk assessment works across the organisation's housing stock, reporting to the Fire Safety Contract Manager.

You'll make sure fire risk assessment actions are completed correctly and within timescale, that properties meet all statutory and regulatory fire safety requirements, and that residents, leaseholders and colleagues receive a consistently high standard of service.

What You'll Be Doing

• Managing designated fire risk assessment actions, ensuring all tasks are completed within prescribed timescales and reporting regularly on progress.
• Liaising with Fire Authorities and ensuring Notice of Deficiency actions are completed within set timescales.
• Analysing and assessing building defects, producing remedial proposals and detailed, up-to-date specifications that meet current legislative standards.
• Obtaining quotations and estimates in line with procurement procedures, and ensuring work is delivered within budget and achieves value for money.
• Providing technical advice to colleagues on construction and building-related matters, including desktop reviews of drawings and specifications for new developments.
• Monitoring the performance of contractors and consultants, carrying out post-inspection and quality control checks, and pursuing redress where required.
• Regularly inspecting sites to check workmanship and standards of construction comply with quality controls, contract conditions and current legislation.

What You'll Need

• Demonstrable experience as a fire/building surveyor in a maintenance environment, carrying out pre- and post-inspections.
• A recognised fire qualification (NEBOSH Fire or equivalent).
• Working knowledge of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.
• Experience working with contractors using SOR and non-SOR contracts.
• Ability to produce detailed specifications of work, with a competent knowledge of current codes of practice, building regulations and health & safety legislation.
• An in-depth knowledge of construction and design, and of fire/construction-related defects and how to avoid them.
• Knowledge of procurement law, contract forms and contract management.
• A full UK driving licence with access to your own vehicle (essential), and the ability to undertake site visits including working at heights.
• Membership of RICS, CIOB, IFE or a similar professional body is desirable but not essential.

Package

• £52,000 - £57,000 per annum, dependent on experience, plus benefits.
• Permanent, full-time role with hybrid working.
• DBS Safeguarding clearance will be required for this role.
