Our client is a leading Social Housing Landlord providing safe and affordable housing to the customers it serves. With the high volume of fire safety works they are undertaking they are looking to appoint a Fire Safety Surveyor on a permanent contract to deliver the fire safety building works they are carrying out.

 

Location

This is a hybrid role but with some days out on sites across London and occasional days in the office.

 

The Company

Our client are a large Social Housing Landlord that manage housing across London and the Home Counties. They are well known in the sector and have a good reputation with residents and a low staff turnover with people tending to stay with them for many years.

 

The Role

The Fire Safety Surveyor will predominantly manage the passive and active fire safety works that have been programmed from recommendations made in earlier fire risk assessments, ensuring that properties meet compliance levels and comply with building regulations. You will investigate and manage complex building refurbishment projects such as change of use, investigating fire safety issues that arise. Works are undertaken by contractors and so experience in working with and managing contractors will be required. This will mean time on various sites around London and liaising with housing management teams, caretaking teams and of course, the residents. You will need good people skills and have a good knowledge of residential properties and build types.

In addition to the above the Fire Safety Surveyor will work with the Fire Risk Surveyors to sense check recommendations and also help with access issues into properties.

Sound knowledge of the requirement of the Building Safety Act 2022

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Knowledge of all housing and building related fire safety legislation, fire safety guidance, building regulationsge best practice and techniques

Knowledge of both passive and active fire safety protection products, their correct testing requirementstallation methods

Industry related experience of hands-on management of contracts

Experience of managing large scale active and passive fire safety works projects and evidence of successfully delivering these within time and budget

Experience of successful contract management of a large supplier (i.e. contractors, consultants and manufacturers)
