Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive inspections of fire doors within housing association properties, ensuring compliance with fire safety regulations and standards.
  • Perform detailed assessments of fire door components, including frames, hinges, seals, locks, and glazing, to identify any defects or issues.
  • Utilise your in-depth knowledge of fire safety regulations, including Building Regulations and British Standards to evaluate the performance and effectiveness of fire doors.
  • Prepare detailed reports documenting findings, including recommendations for necessary repairs or replacements to address non-compliance.
  • Collaborate with housing association staff, contractors, and maintenance teams to ensure prompt action is taken to rectify identified issues.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance on fire door maintenance, usage, and best practices to housing association staff and residents.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in fire safety regulations, door technology, and industry standards to continuously enhance your knowledge and expertise.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of fire safety awareness and training programs for staff and residents.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, findings, and remedial actions taken to ensure a comprehensive audit trail.

 

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Fire Door Inspector or a similar role, with a strong understanding of fire safety regulations and door inspection procedures.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of relevant fire safety regulations, including Building Regulations, Fire Safety Order, and British Standards.
  • Familiarity with fire door components, materials, and construction methods.
  • Excellent attention to detail and observational skills to identify defects and assess compliance.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey inspection findings and recommendations.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritise tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Proficient in using digital tools and software for recording and reporting inspection findings.
  • Relevant certifications or qualifications in fire safety or door inspection would be advantageous.
  • A commitment to promoting fire safety and protecting lives within housing communities.
