Our client, a large London local authority, is seeking a dedicated Electrical Inspector to oversee and ensure the quality and compliance of electrical works conducted by contractors. This role is pivotal in maintaining and improving the authority’s properties and encompasses door entry, lighting and specialised fire safety projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough inspections of electrical installations and maintenance works to ensure compliance with BS 7671 (18th Edition) and other relevant regulations.
- Oversee and assess contractor performance, ensuring adherence to project timelines and quality standards.
- Review and validate Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICRs) and other certification documents.
- Collaborate with project teams on fire safety initiatives, ensuring electrical aspects meet safety requirements.
- Provide expert advice on electrical safety and compliance to internal stakeholders.
Candidate Profile:
- Proven experience in electrical inspection within the social housing sector or similar environments.
- Comprehensive knowledge of electrical regulations and safety standards.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret technical documents and certifications.
- Relevant qualifications, such as City & Guilds 2391 or equivalent, are desirable.
- Experience and demonstrable skills of undertaking contract administration of electric and fire safety contractors
- Project management qualifications and/or experience
- Knowledge on fire safety, Wet risers and Dry riser systems
- Experience of applying CDM and IOSH regulations and their application in managing works safely
- Ability to undertake risk assessments and respond to emergencies by giving clear direction and taking timely and appropriate action
- Excellent communications skills both written and oral and the ability to write letters and complex, concise reports and submit them in a timely manner.
- Able to independently manage contractors, be resident focused, forward thinking and professional.
- Ability to use a wide range of IT packages and repair database
- Provides creative but practical solutions to problems and seeks opportunities to improve existing processes and procedures in line with ISO9001.
